Bujia incandescenta , utilizata la motoarele cu ardere prin compresie , reprezinta un element al instalatiei de aprindere si are rolul de a incalzi amestecul carburant , in cazul pornirii de la rece .
Pentru realizarea autoaprinderii amestecului aer-carburant , la sfarsitul ciclului de compresie din cilindru , este necesara o temperatura foarte ridicata , care in cazul pornirii de la rece , fiind greu de atins , va rezulta o pornire greoaie . Pentru eliminarea acestui inconvenient , s-a recurs la utilizarea unui dispozitiv de preincalzire , a amestecului carburant , denumit bujie incandescenta .
Bujiile , sunt alimentate de la bateria automobilului , si au capacitatea de a transforma energia electrica primita , in energie termica , prin intermediul unei rezistente electrice . Bujiile sunt proiectate sa se incalzeasca foarte repede , pana la temperaturi de cca 800 de grade celsius , intr-un timp redus , iar materialul din care sunt confectionate , trebuie sa fie rezistent la uzura si la temperaturi ridicate .
Activarea respectiv dezactivarea bobinelor din circuit , este realizata de catre calculatorul de injectie , prin intermediul calculatorului de aprindere , denumit si unitate de control a bobinelor cu incandescenta .
