Bobina de inductie , este un dispozitiv care indeplineste rolul de transformator de tensiune , acesta transformand curentul de joasa tensiune , respectiv 12 volti , in curent de inalta tensiune , de cca 20.000 de volti , necesar bujiei , pentru producerea scanteii .
In cazul motoarelor cu ardere interna , dupa aspiratia si compresia amestecului carburant , in cilindrii motorului , scanteia produsa de catre bujie , va detona amestecul carburant .
Pentru producerea scanteii , la electrozii bujiei , este nevoie de o tensiune de cca 20.000 de volti .
